In a recent Morgan Stanley survey of institutional investors, 70% said they are integrating sustainable investing into their investment process, signaling just how quickly the ESG imperative is catching on.
Despite this the ESG narrative is dominated by asset managers and NGOs. This session will provide a perspective of the often unheard, yet highly influential asset owner.
Asset owners—pension funds, endowments, foundations and other large institutional investors—are embracing sustainable investing and viewing environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors as a way to proactively manage risk and returns. Of the $22.8 trillion invested sustainably, or $1 in every $4 under professional management, according to the 2016 Global Sustainable Investment Review, institutional investors own nearly 75%.
This practitioner-led programme will provide a unique insight into the mind of an asset owner, outlining the different approaches asset owners are taking to accelerate sustainable investing. The session will consider the regulation, market drivers, embedding ESG and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into investment mandates and best practice approaches to fund selection / evaluation.
You will learn how to:
- How to engage asset managers in respect to Sustainability and Responsible Investing
- Understand how Ethical aims, ESG and SDGs effect different asset classes and fund strategies
- Possible solutions to creating or improving your Responsible Investing Framework
- Ethical Investing versus Environmental Social Governance
- Assessing ESG in different Fund Managers
- Key Considerations in Assessing Funds Across Asset Classes
- Key Considerations in Stewardship, Tilting and Divesting
- Incorporating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
